WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma is a revolutionary solution of plasma where the platelets concentration is higher than whole blood. As part of the body’s capacity to heal itself, platelets and other components included in human blood migrate to a site of injury, where they initiate and promote healing. By concentrating platelet at the site of injury, we have the potential to enhance the body’s natural capacity for healing.
WHAT DO I DO BEFORE A PLATELET RICH PLASMA PROCEDURE?
All anti-inflammatory medications such as Aleve, Advil, Motrin or Ibuprofen should be avoided for 7 days prior to the procedure. Potential candidates on Aspirin should discuss with their primary care physician if aspirin may be discontinued for a brief time period.
